GINSBERG, Allen. Howl and other Poems. Introduction by William Carlos Williams. The Pocket Poets Series: Number Four. San Francisco : The City Lights Pocket Bookshop, (1956). Small quarto, original printed wrappers; custom half-leather box.

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness..."

First edition, one of only 1000 copies.  This copy signed and inscribed by Ginsberg: "For Janet & Charles Richards / Potrero Hill / 1971".  Potrero Hill is a San Francisco neighborhood where Ginsberg lived while working on Howl.  Janet Richards was a feminist writer, known for her book "Common Soldiers".  Text fine; wrappers generally fine with only very slight browning to spine and a few small stray spots.  An outstanding inscribed copy with rich associations.  $7500.
